Wayne Pool's greatest strength lies in his experience – learned over many years through the construction of many architecturally-designed and complex homes and backed up with continued study. Wayne views construction as a series of problem-solving challenges – from finding the most efficient method of a technical detail to forseeing what could possibly go wrong in a build and addressing it before it happens. 

“Many plans we work with are detailed – but none are complete as this would be enormously expensive. This is where the profound experience kicks in – the skill of being able to read between the lines, finding issues and providing solutions before construction begins. 

“Our goal is always to provide the best quality construction possible at the best price possible,” he says.

Wayne has always had a passion for building. He served his apprenticeship in Dunedin and started his own company soon after completing his Advanced Trade Certificate.

The lure of adventure then drew him overseas, where he based himself in London, working as a project manager for a small company specialising in loft conversions. When he returned to New Zealand, he set up a business in Auckland specialising in architecturally-designed homes. Many clients were architects themselves.

After 15 years, the desire to return to the South Island became too strong and he moved to Nelson. For three years, Wayne project managed for Kidson Construction and later Nelson Marlborough Roofing, before succumbing to his passion to build, setting up his own company, Wayne Pool Builder Ltd.
